Nikki began her journey in Performing Arts, when a sudden turn of events paved the way to one of self-discovery, transformation and commitment to a life-long inquiry into human suffering and healing. With a background in Fitness and an MSc in Health Psychology, Nikki has been teaching a wide variety of group fitness and personal training classes since the late 80s, and has provided holistic life coaching for individuals from all walks of life, including those with chronic illnesses. Nikki is a Chartered level 2 teacher with Yoga Alliance UK. She is also certified in NLP, Reiki, and Chinese Martial Arts.
After having travelled extensively and training with some of the most renowned teachers in various styles of yoga, it wasn’t until she joined Bikram Yoga under the tutelage of Michele Pernetta and her senior team in 2004, that she was motivated to establish and sustain her practice back in London. Nikki rapidly experienced the detoxification effects and health benefits of practicing hot yoga on a regular basis. The power of pranayama, the connection of the body and mind through breath and intuitive moving meditation, freeing her from panic attacks and physical injuries that had once been her nemeses.
She has been teaching yoga since 2008, following her initial Hatha Yoga training in Kerala, India, based on the Gurukula system (traditional way of Indian teaching). She has continued her journey teaching with Fierce Grace since March, 2015, qualified to teach a variety of classes within the FG system, including injury modification.
Michele’s Fierce Grace system and manifesto naturally reflect and encompass all that Nikki respects in a yoga discipline and practice and is honoured to be part of the FG family, teaching with like minded yogis who are all uniquely talented. Nikki has embraced this platform with gratitude and passion to “give back” and facilitate learning and transformation in others.
