Fierce Grace yoga has has just been rolled out at David Lloyd Leisure gyms across the country, starting with London, Leeds and Dublin. It’s a hot yoga style that sets itself apart from Bikram (also in a hot studio) by offering six different but interconnected classes rather than just the one. The intention was to give something to people of all abilities, ages, body types, needs and moods.
‘I have been aware for years that not enough has been done by the media or yoga studios to welcome older, stiffer or injured people. I wanted to change that with our offering,’ says founder Michele Pernetta (pictured left and above) who comes from a 20-year Bikram background and originally brought it to the UK.
Each Fierce Grace class has a different emphasis, duration and intensity: Core, a gentle, restorative class that’s also suitable for beginners, unfit or injured; Classic for a disciplined approach with 18 more poses than Bikram; Fierce Grace, for a bit of flow with 40 poses and sun salutation; Fix, a shorter 50 minute version; Wild, for strength and stamina building; and Fierce, an advanced class that encompasses elements of all."
