What’s Hot

“Fierce Grace Yoga is bringing the cool back into hot yoga. Studio owner Michele Pernetta who is credited with introducing Bikram Yoga to the UK, has developed her own brand of yoga that concentrates on strength as well as flexibility. They offer five different classes ranging from shorter sessions like The Fix to the hardcore contortions of The Beast. Our BBH tester said, ‘I went to the City branch and liked the atmosphere – the studio has a nice chilled vibe. The large studio doesn’t smell (other studios take note) and isn’t as hot as a regular Bikram class. Classes are done with the lights turned low. I usually do Hot Bikram Yoga which is more rigid and is about how long you can hold the 26 poses. I did a Fierce Grace class, which comprises of 39 steps that combine Bikram, classical Hatha and Ashtanga yogas and is designed to promote strength, flexibility and alignment. It’s a challenging workout done to chill-out music, and while some of the poses were difficult, and nigh on impossible, it felt that it reached muscles that my Bikram isn’t touching.’”
